UK's red telephone box graveyard

This telephone boxes graveyard is located in the small village of Carlton Miniott, in the north of England. As years go by, decommissioned red phone boxes are replaced and deposited in this site where hundreds of them are already left to decay.

25 abandoned former Yugoslavia monuments

These monuments were commissioned by Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito in the 1960's and 1970's to commemorate sites where World War II battles took place or where concentration camps stood around the ex-Yugoslavia region (now Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina etc.). They were designed by different sculptors and architectures, conveying powerful visual impact to show the confidence and strength of the Socialist Republic. After Yugoslavia dissolved in the early 90's the monuments were left abandoned and were vandalized.

Belgian photographer Jan Kempenaers travelled around the countries of former Yugoslavia between 2006 and 2009 with the help of a 1975 map of memorials for a series of melancholic yet striking images depicting those monuments in their present condition.

A Parisian ghost town in the middle of China

The gated community of Tianducheng, located near Hangzhou, the capitol of China’s Zhejiang province was built to resemble Paris, complete with a 108-meter (354-foot) replica of Eiffel tower, and 31 square kilometers (12 square miles) of Parisian style architecture, fountains and landscaping. 

The town opened in 2007 after 5 years of development and was supposed to accomodate more than 10,000 residents. However, it still remains scarcely populated and local media call it a ghost town.
